Carenated jug from Grotta delle Felci

Carenated jug from Grotta delle Felci

The carenated jug, shaped with purified clay and smoothed on the external surface, belongs to a class of material known collectively as the “Capri style”. On the body, inside the metopal space bounded by red bands edged in brown, is a decorative pattern made of a lozenge alternating with bands of parallel lines. Along the rim runs a line in brown, from which descend brown lines inside the vessel. The pot has been completely reconstructed using the two fragments that were found and filling in the missing parts with plaster.
